Activities and Attractions in Cozumel Town of San Miguel
The
only town on the island, San Miguel, features the zocalo
(town square) Plaza del Sol, and the Downtown Pier,
two favorite destinations. On Sunday afternoons locals
and tourists enjoy music, dancing and strolling.

Day tours from Cozumel to explore
the architectural ruins on the Yucatan peninsula from
Cozumel are quite popular and are available through
local travel agencies. Transportation is generally
included in these tours: Cedral
A small village is the agricultural center of Cozumel.
Many Mayan ruins can be found in and around its confines.
Cedral is also the site of an annual celebration featuring
bull fights, prize winning livestock, games, dancing,
food, and an ocean of beer. The event is held in May.
Celarin lighthouse
Located on the southwest tip of Cozumel,
with fantastic views from the top. Fried fish, ceviche
and beer on Sundays. Chancanab lagoon
Recently
made into a state park, has a botanical garden which
boasts of over 400 species of tropical plants, a huge
saltwater lagoon, restaurant, tons of white sand and
a national submarine park with SCUBA and snorkeling
rentals and lessons. East coast (known
as "the other side")
Is replete with long empty beaches, shells and waves.

at the Dive Paradise dive shop. Punta molas road
Is a dirt / sand "jeep only" type of
road that leads to the northernmost lighthouse.
It passes
several great beaches and some Mayan ruins along the
way. CAUTION: Insurance on your rental vehicle is
null and void when you leave the paved road. Be careful. San Gervasio ruins
Is a major excavation of Mayan ruins covering an
area of about 10 acres and situated in beautiful & cool
forest surroundings, easily accessible by tour. Golf Cozumel has a Country Club where
golfers will enjoy great games and beautiful sceneries.
The island of Cozumel´s
first golf course is also the Riviera Maya’s
newest championship test of golf.
Designed by the Nicklaus Design Group, this environmental
showcase of golf in Mexico has been carefully sculpted
from the Mayan Jungle. The golf course is a masterpiece
that makes its way through the jungle and around the
native mangroves to offer a challenging experience
to the serious golfer while allowing an enjoyable
round for the not so serious. Museo de Cozumel
Established to offer a better understanding of
the island’s geography, geology, history,
and natural growth, the museum describes the natural
terrestrial
and submarine environments and presents a panorama
of flora and fauna. Also recounted are historical
events, starting with the pre-Hispanic epoch when Cozumel was a shrine visited by pilgrims
to venerate Ix-Chel, the Maya goddess of love, fertility,
weaving, and the moon. The museum also has a restaurant,
book store, gift shop, and library. Dining & entertainment

island of Cozumel specializing in
Mexican, International, Mediterranean, Italian, Caribbean,
seafood and Tex Mex cuisine. In addition there are
several U.S.-based fast food and chain establishments.

Cozumel, as a duty-free port, is
recognized for its wide variety of jewelry, including

establishments in the hotels feature elegant apparel,
casual clothing, international fragrances, Mexican
crafts and souvenirs.
Several specialty downtown shops feature indigenous
black coral in the form of jewelry and sculptures.
Please note that Cozumel adheres to the regulations
for the preservation of Black Coral as a natural resource
and gently harvests the coral in order not to disturb
the reefs.
